Went to the Eagles of Death Metal gig in Vega.
What can I say? I've been listening to rock music for well over forty years by now. And all too often I find myself standing in a crowded venue watching some supposedly talented band loudly trying to impress me with their complexity, their skills or their attitude - but ultimately just leaving me cold, like the most important element is somehow missing...
And then there are nights like this: Simple, no-nonsense, but well-crafted songs, delivered with infectious energy and a tongue-in-cheek attitude that you can't help but love. No wonder the crowd went wild, both male and female fans popping up on the stage merely to kiss Jesse Hughes on the cheek. And when - during a generous set of encores - the band kept insuring us that they had the time of their life, well, you actually believed it.
It's bands like this that reminds me why I like rock'n'roll in the first place.

With Dr. Robert Moog

The day I met Dr. Robert Moog (1934-2005), inventor of the moog synthesizer. Read my interview (in Danish) with Robert Moog here.
